Recording what was wasted
Record scrap while you work, or when you finish. You are only asked once, whichever you do first.
The job must be running — waste can only be recorded against work in the In Progress column.
There is nothing to record against a job nobody has started, and putting it there is how waste ends up logged on the wrong card.
1Press the bin icon on the card
Along the bottom of a running job’s card there is a small bin icon.
Press it. Type your PIN if it asks.
2Fill in what was wasted
The screen is headed Waste on this job.
- Pick the Waste type from the list.
- Type the Quantity — how much. Part of a unit is fine; 2.5 is a valid answer.
- Add a note if it is worth saying. Optional.
- Press Add entry.
3Check it went in
The entry appears above the form under Recorded so far, in amber.
The form clears itself, ready for another entry if more than one thing was wasted.
Once you have recorded something, the NO WASTE button disappears.
That is correct. “No waste” and “2.5 kg of acrylic” cannot both be true, so the screen removes the one that is now wrong rather than letting you press it.
4Press Done
Press Done when you have recorded everything.
The job stays in progress. Recording waste from the card does not finish the job — you carry on working.
What happens next
Carry on with the job.
When you finish it later, the waste screen will not ask again. You have already answered.
Each waste type can carry a limit. Go over it on one job and the system opens an issue and tells a manager.
That is not a telling-off and it is not aimed at you. It is how a problem nobody has noticed — a blunt blade, a bad batch of material, a machine drifting out of true — gets in front of somebody who can fix it.
An operator who thinks the limit is a disciplinary trigger will under-report, and then the problem stays hidden and keeps costing money. Record what actually happened.
If it goes wrong
