Warehouses
The places stock can be. Every quantity in the system belongs to one of them.
A warehouse is a place stock is kept. There is no such thing as stock in general: every quantity the system holds belongs to a named warehouse, which is what makes a transfer between two of them a real movement rather than a note.
1Open the list
Go to Inventory → Warehouses.
The columns are Name, Code, Default and Active.
The Code is the short form used on documents — MAIN, SITE. The Name
is what a reader sees on screen, and the two need not resemble each other: the
demo’s SITE is called Factory.
2Add one
Press New warehouse and give it a name and a code.
Default decides which warehouse a new document starts on. Only one warehouse should carry it.
What happens next
A warehouse cannot simply be deleted once documents point at it. Switch it inactive instead: it stops being offered on new documents, and every document that already used it still reads correctly.
Deleting the place a movement happened would leave the movement describing nowhere.
