Expense Types
The short list every expense is filed under.
An expense type is a category for spending. Every expense picks one, and the list is deliberately short — it exists so somebody can ask “what did we spend on transport last month” and get an answer.
1Open the list
Go to Expense Types.
The columns are Name, Description and Active. The demo carries two: Utilities and Transport & Fuel.
2Add one
Press New expense type, and give it a name.
What happens next
Keep this list short.
Twenty types with one expense each answers nothing — the report becomes as long as the list of expenses it was meant to summarise. Add a type when you would genuinely ask about that kind of spending on its own.
A type that is no longer used should be switched inactive rather than deleted, so the expenses already filed under it keep reading correctly.
